What is a .fi domain?
The .fi extension is the official country-code domain for Finland, managed by Traficom, the Finnish Transport and Communications Agency. In service since 1987, it is the most trusted web address for reaching the Finnish market and instantly signals a genuine local presence. A .fi name can be 2 to 63 characters long and supports internationalised characters such as å, ä and ö.
Who can register a .fi domain?
Since 2016, .fi has been open to everyone - companies, organisations and private individuals anywhere in the world, with no residency or local-presence requirement. You provide accurate registrant details (a VAT number for companies, or a date of birth for individuals) and the name must not infringe an existing trademark. No. Since 2016 the .fi registry has been open worldwide, with no residency or local-presence requirement for individuals or companies.
Can I use the characters å, ä and ö in a .fi domain?
Yes. The .fi registry supports internationalised domain names, so å, ä and ö are allowed alongside a-z, 0-9 and hyphens, for names of 2 to 63 characters.
Is DNSSEC included with a .fi domain?

Is transferring a .fi domain free?
Yes, the transfer itself is free. Note that a .fi transfer does not add a year to your current expiry date - the next year is paid at the following renewal.
