The .ax extension is the official domain of the Åland Islands, the autonomous, Swedish-speaking archipelago of Finland, and is managed by the Government of Åland. A .ax name can be 2 to 63 characters and supports å, ä and ö.
Who can register a .ax domain?
Since the 2016 reform (Domain Name Regulation M68), .ax is open to anyone, worldwide, on a first-come, first-served basis - the former ties to Åland residency or local business were removed.
